Obama, MoveOn Make Push To Tip Arizona

MoveOn.org is hoping to push Barack Obama over the hump in John McCain's home state with an ad that features a lifetime Republican and U.S. Air Force member endorsing the Illinois Democrat.

At the same time, the Obama campaign emailed supporters in the Copper State on Thursday, organizing volunteers for a get-out-the-vote drive.
"The fact that John McCain's home state, a traditional red state, is now in play with 5 days left until the election speaks to the real power of Obama to reach across party lines and speak to all Americans," said Eli Pariser, MoveOn's Executive Director. "The entire country is ready for a change of direction, and this ad speaks directly to voters who are ready to become a part of that change."
The ad was the winning entry from more than 1,000 submissions to MoveOn's "Obama in 30 Seconds" ad contest earlier this year.

If Obama wins Virginia - it's over. That simple. He is comfortably ahead in all of the blue states that John Kerry won in 2004. He is very likely to win all of those. He is also comfortably ahead in Iowa and New Mexico. So, that means all he has to do to get an electoral majority is win Virginia, or Ohio, or Florida, or Colorado.

Tax Cuts of Mass Destruction

How the US vote can be stolen

It's no secret -
the election was a fraud

George Bush has shredded the Constitution; bankrupted the country; blackened our reputation as a people; and lied us into an illegal, immoral, self-destructive military operation in Iraq.
And he was never elected president.
Not in 2000. Not in 2004.
And the news media, Congress, and the Democratic Party have never even attempted to do anything about it.
If you're living in America, that's the kind of country you're living in now.
It's not a question of when or if we'll lose our democracy, it's been gone a long time. The only question is what we're going to do to get it back.

How we got George Bush

Sam Stein: As Election Nears, Dirty Tricks Grow More Common

Make sure you tell everyone you know that EVERYBODY VOTES ON NOVEMBER 4TH(or before if you have absentee ballots or early voting) and nobody is in danger of being arrested at the polls for parking tickets and other nonsense the Republicans are trying to scare you with. VOTE! DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN'T!
As the election nears, examples of political dirty tricks are emerging with
greater frequency.
On Tuesday, the Virginia Pilot reported that a phony Board of Elections flier was
circulating the state "advising Republicans to vote on Nov. 4 and Democrats on
Nov. 5." Voting, of course, is on the 4th only, creating fear among neutral
observers and the Obama campaign that people were simply going to miss the
opportunity to go to the polls.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, an anonymous flier was circulating in predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Philadelphia telling voters they could be arrested at the polls if they show up to vote with outstanding arrest warrants or unpaid parking tickets. This is also untrue

Cannabis Will Alleviate Depression

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - The Merck Manual indicates 20 percent of women and 12 percent of men will suffer clinical depression. This is a rather depressing world we’re living in.Antidepressant drugs are among the most prescribed medications but their adverse side effects can often be paradoxically lethal with suicide being prominent.
Todays TV news presents a new electromagnetic machine for depression which stimulates the brain which probably causes cannabinoid secretions which makes patient subjects feel better. It had better, a treatment series costs 6 thousand dollars.
Well, I have a surprise for some people. The U.S. Govt says cannabis as an alleged drug causes euphoria which (surprise surprise) causes euphoria which is addicting. Imagine, a very safe replacement for amphetamine, once the most prescribed and addicting mood stimulants being replaced with cannabis.

Join Mass Actions on the 6th Anniversary of the Iraq War -- March 21, 2009

Mass Actions on the 6th Anniversary of the Iraq War -- March 21, 2009
Bring All the Troops Home Now -- End All Colonial Occupations!
Fund People's Needs, Not Militarism & Bank Bailouts!

Marking the sixth anniversary of the criminal invasion of Iraq, thousands will take to the streets of Washington D.C. and other cities across the U.S. and around the world in March 2009 to say, “Bring the Troops Home NOW!” We will also demand “End Colonial Occupation in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Everywhere,” and “Fund Peoples’ Needs Not Militarism and Bank Bailouts.” We also insist on an end to the war threats and economic sanctions against Iran.
The ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) is organizing for unified mass marches and rallies in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami and other cities on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Months ago we obtained permits for sixth anniversary demonstrations. ANSWER has been actively involved with other coalitions, organizations, and networks to organize unified anti-war demonstrations in the spring of 2009. ANSWER participated in the National Assembly to End the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and Occupations that was held in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28th-29th and attended by 450 people, including many national and local anti-war coalitions. The National Assembly gathering agreed to promote national, unified anti-war demonstrations in the Spring of 2009.
The war in Iraq has killed, wounded or displaced nearly a third of Iraq’s 26 million people. Thousands of U.S. soldiers have been killed and hundreds of thousands more have suffered severe physical and psychological wounds. The cost of the war is now running at $700 million dollars per day, over $7,000 per second. The U.S. leaders who have initiated and conducted this criminal war should be tried and jailed for war crimes.
The war in Afghanistan is expanding, and both the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates and Congressional leaders have promised to send in more troops. Both have promised to increase the size of the U. S. military. Both have promised to increase military aid to Israel to continue its oppression of the Palestinian people, including the denial of the right of return.
While millions of families are losing their homes, jobs and healthcare, the real military budget next year will top one trillion dollars, $1,000,000,000,000. If used to meet people’s needs, that amount could create 10 million new jobs at $60,000 per year, provide healthcare for everyone who does not have it now, rebuild New Orleans and repair much of the damage done in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Federal bailouts of the biggest banks and investors many of whom have also made billions in profits from militarism, are already up to an astounding $2.5 trillion this year. None of that money is earmarked for keeping millions of foreclosed and evicted families in their homes.
Coming just two months after the inauguration of the next president, March 21, 2009 will be a critical opportunity to let the new administration in Washington hear the voice of the people demanding justice.

"Bono addressed 14,000 women in Long Beach, Calif., this week at The Women's Conference 2008. The following is an excerpt from his speech.

Rock stars have two urges. (No, really, just two.) They want to change the world, and they want to have fun. And I believe we can't do one without the other. It's like music -- no one trusts music that lacks joy. It's the life force in rock and roll that we love. Especially in serious times, in traumatic times. We need to dig deep to find joy. So let me repeat, we are here tonight because we want to change the world in a tiny way in our 'hoods or in a grand way in our global community and in so doing, find our joy. But we can't change the world without first changing the way we look at the world. The way you behave in the world depends entirely on the way you view the world. Weltanschauung is what the Germans call it. Californians call it your attitude ... dude."

THC fights tumors. Pass it over.

THC has shown to actually inhibit the growth of tumors, that's why heavy pot smokers like you, aren't at any greater risk of getting lung cancer. Feel better now?

People who smoke marijuana do not appear to be at increased risk for developing
lung cancer, new research suggests.

While a clear increase in cancer risk was seen among cigarette smokers in the study, no such association was seen for regular cannabis users.

Even very heavy, long-term marijuana users who had smoked more than 22,000 joints over a lifetime seemed to have no greater risk than infrequent marijuana users or nonusers.

The findings surprised the study’s researchers, who expected to see an increase in cancer among people who smoked marijuana regularly in their youth.

“We know that there are as many or more carcinogens and co-carcinogens in marijuana smoke as in cigarettes,” researcher Donald Tashkin, MD, of UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine tells WebMD. “But we did not find any evidence for an increase in cancer risk for even heavy marijuana smoking.” Carcinogens are substances that cause cancer.

Tashkin presented the findings today at The American Thoracic Society’s 102nd
International Conference, held in San Diego.

Vote Yes on 2: Decriminalize Marijuana in Massachusetts!!!

Recently, the campaign to pass a marijuana decriminalization initiative in Massachusetts began airing two new TV ads.

In the ads, retired police officers urge voters to pass the initiative next month.

In one ad, Sergeant Howard Donahue, a 33-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, says, “Take it from a cop who walked the beat. Please vote yes on Question 2.”

Lt. Tom Nolan

This is the first in a series of ads released across the commonwealth, featuring law enforcement officials arguing for the passage of Question 2. This ad features Lt. Tom Nolan, a 27-year veteran of the Boston Police Department. Lt. Nolan describes the impact of the permanent criminal records residents are saddled with for minor marijuana possession offenses, and concludes: "I entered law enforcement to catch bad guys, not to deny someone an education for life just because they made a mistake."

Sgt. Howard Donahue

A 33-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, Sgt. Howard Donahue is also an outspoken supporter of Question 2. As he notes in this ad airing across Massachusetts, he does not support the legalization of marijuana, but that is not what Question 2 proposes. Question 2 is a simple, commonsense reform that will allow police officers to focus on serious, violent crime and free up law enforcement resources.

Not in Iraq. Not in Afghanistan.

The goal of Peace Action's 'No Soldier Left Behind' campaign is simple.  To tell the incoming administration that there is still a groundswell of support to end the occupation of Iraq and bring our troops home.
So far, almost 1,000 signatures have been collected.  Between now and the Inauguration, Peace Action will gather another 2,000 with your help.
The Iraq occupation is all but eliminated from the Presidential debate. It's the economy that's in the headlines now.  The economic crisis has us all worried and cost of the occupation has made it worse.  It's easy to imagine the next administration ignoring this connection to put the issue of Iraq on the back burner for political gain.
The emerging consensus may be more frightening.  Both candidates have advocated moving the quagmire from Iraq to Afghanistan.  That means sending the troops there instead of bringing them home.
Will you help Peace Action make it clear to the next administration we want our troops home, not shuttled off to another quagmire?
We're working to undo over a year of political messaging, refuting the Bush spin:  that the surge has worked, Afghanistan is the 'good war', and the 'war on terror' must be fought militarily.  The truth is: the surge is unsustainable; there is no good war; and, real security from terrorism requires international cooperation and diplomacy.
There is no military solution in Iraq or Afghanistan - or anywhere.  You cannot bomb for peace.  If we don't take action TODAY - before the next President is elected - two years from now, we'll be talking about billions of dollars and hundreds of lives lost in Afghanistan.
The truth is we can stop this now - but only with your help.

'No Soldier Left Behind'
sends a clear message to the next administration; nothing short of bringing our troops home will do.  There are solutions to the security problems in Iraq and Afghanistan that do not directly involve the U.S. military.  The next President will have the power to implement those solutions or continue Bush's march deeper into a global war.
Please support 'No Soldier Left Behind'.  We have real problems in our own country that spending billions of tax dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan won't fix.

Sincerely,

Kevin M. Martin

VNB 10.2 group

The ANSWER Coalition, VoteNoBailout.org, ImpeachBush.org and scores of other organizations are mobilizing for demonstrations on Friday night, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, when the Bush administration will be hosting heads of state from around the world, bankers, and the heads of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and other international institutions to coordinate the ongoing transfer of money from working families into the pockets of the richest bankers.
Congress has caved in to the Bush administration and provided $2.5 trillion in total in money and loan guarantees to the bankers. Meanwhile, more than 2 million families have either been driven from their homes because of foreclosure, or are seriously behind in their payments and risking foreclosure. When the people can't pay the interest on their mortgages, bankers drive them from their homes. But when the richest bankers can't meet their debts, the government bails them out with taxpayers' money.
On Friday evening, November 14, the heads of state and bankers will be wined and dined at a White House dinner, and then on Saturday, November 15 they will hold a summit meeting. Join us at the White House to say "Money for Meet People's Needs, Not Bankers' Greed!"

Anti-pot D.A.s have puffed themselves

BOSTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana is a dangerous idea, say Massachusetts prosecutors who admit to trying pot themselves.

Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe, who are leading the charge against a state ballot initiative to keep small pot possession charges off criminal records, all say they smoked marijuana when younger, The Boston Globe reported Monday.
But that hasn't stopped them from saying Question 2 on the Nov. 4 ballot, which would make possession of less than an ounce of marijuana punishable by a civil fine without placement on permanent criminal records, is wrong-headed, the newspaper said.
The prosecutors told the Globe they have learned from their mistakes and say they worry that decriminalizing marijuana possession would lead to more drug use, benefit drug dealers, increase violence on the streets and create safety hazards on the roads.

"I think it's hypocritical for the district attorneys to insist on keeping lifelong barriers for folks who weren't as lucky as they were by avoiding arrest," countered Whitney Taylor

Colin Powell's statement about Army Spc. Kareem R. Khan is about 4:30 or so into this clip...

The smoking gun that will put Bush behind bars

Murder most foul

If you conspire for the death of a person or group of people, without a legal justification like self defense, and death ensues, then you're guilty of murder whether you pull the trigger or not.
Vincent Bugliosi understands this legal principle very well.
He's the prosecutor who put Charles Manson behind bars even though Manson never personally killed anyone.
When George Bush attacked Iraq knowing fully well that the US was not under any threat from that country, he became legally liable for the death of every US soldier under his command.
Bush is, of course, morally responsible for the death of every person in that conflict, but the legal theory for prosecuting him for all of them is not as clear cut.
But it doesn't matter.
Just one wrongful death is enough to indict him and bring him to court on murder charges and just one conviction is enough to put him in jail, hopefully for the rest of his natural life.
This video addresses the smoking gun that proves that Iraq was not a threat to the US and Bush knew it.
Therefore, his order to attack was a premeditated criminal act that resulted in the death of others i.e. he is a murderer.
There is an experienced attorney running for Attorney General in the State of Vermont.
She is ready, willing and able to bring Bush up on murder charges.
All it takes is one Attorney General to step up and the flood gates will open.
But it won't happen by itself.
There is no single issue more important to the future of this country than the criminal persecution of George Bush for murder.
Future presidents must be made aware that criminal activity in the White House will result in aggressive prosecution and that their immunity lasts only as long as they're in office.
Here's where you can go to get more info about and support the campaign to indict George Bush for murder:

Forget impeachment

Try Bush for murder

Vincent Bugliosi lays it out

You can make this happen.
Charlotte Dennett is running for Attorney General of the State of Vermont.
If she wins, she will use her office to indict George Bush for the murder of the citizens of Vermont who were killed in his fraudulent war.
You can support her efforts here:
http://www.charlottedennettforattorneygeneral.com
Forget impeachment.
Try Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and all the rest for murder.
Former LA Deputy District Attorney, who successfully prosecuted, dozens of murder cases, makes the case that George Bush is indictable for murder.
Any state or city that had a citizen killed in the course of the Iraq War is eligible for pressing charges and bringing these lying psychopaths to justice.
This is not a pipe dream. The law exists to indict Bush and his co-conspirators on murder charges the minute he is no longer president.
Nothing could possibly be more important for the future of this country than to bring these criminals to justice.
