When it becomes clear to everyone that the surge has failed, blame will be shifted from the civilian and military leaders, who sold us a war on false pretexts, to "the enemy within", the American people who failed to sustain their will to win, just as was done with the Vietnam War. The seeds of this myth are already being sown.
