No War No Warming LogoWe are all fully aware that the Iraq w-a-r is all about o-i-l. The U.S.'s fossil fuel addiction is responsible for dangerous global warming that is disrupting the earth's climate. And as the climate crisis deepens, it could lead to greater conflict and war over increasingly scarce fossil fuel and water resources. The connections are clear, as is the urgent need for stepping up our activism on both of these interrelated fronts.

No War, No Warming's primary action will be in Washington, DC, on Monday, October 22nd, a work day for Congress. On that day large numbers of people will engage in creative, nonviolent civil disobedience to disrupt the business-as-usual that keeps the war going and the planet heating. Young people and those young at heart will be using their bodies to make a loud statement that we are outraged at the lack of action a year after a new, Democratic-controlled Congress was elected. We want action now to end the war, bring all the troops home and address the climate crisis!

There will also be local actions around the country for those who cannot be on Capitol Hill on the 22nd.

United for Peace and Justice has been connected with the No War, No Warming effort since it came together last spring. We urge you to make every effort to participate in these actions. A strong showing on Octopber 22nd will send a powerful message to Congress. It will also help to encourage even larger numbers of people to participate in the regional antiwar demonstrations we are organizing for the following Saturday, October 27th.
