At least 203 Iraqis were killed or found dead today and another 400 wounded, mostly in a series of bombing in the capital and Kirkuk. Also, five American soldiers died in separate incidents.
The U.S. military reported on the deaths of three more American servicemembers. Two U.S. soldiers were killed during combat in Anbar province, another soldier died while on recuperative leave. Later, the deaths of two more soldiers were reported; they died in Baghdad on Friday. An U.S. vehicle was blasted in Khalis, no casualties were reported.
In Baghdad, a suicide truck bomber killed at least 135 people and injured 305 others in an attack on the Sadriyah market in central Baghdad; the bombing occurred late in the afternoon as crowds had gathered to buy food for their evening meals. A minibus struck a roadside bomb near Beirut Square, killing one and wounding four. Also, a bomb in a southern neighborhood killed one and wounded ten. Following the attack, mortar rounds were exchanged between Sunni and Shi'ite neighborhoods; two were killed and 20 injured in the barrages. And 19 dumped bodies were discovered in various neighborhoods.
