The Bush administration's effort to publicize the threat of a nuclear Iran does not appear to have impacted global public opinion. Results of a Pew Research Center poll of 17,000 people in fifteen countries released Tuesday show that most people in the world think the United States military in Iraq is a greater threat to stability in the Middle East than Tehran.
Results also show that confidence in President Bush has plummeted. He received the lowest marks for international leadership when compared to British, French, Russian and German heads of state. Pervasive concerns about the treatment of detainees in Iraq and prisons like Guantanamo has further fueled international discontent.
