Tell the Supreme Court To Protect Victim Rights

Tell the Supreme Court To Protect Victim Rights

This spring, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case that will have profound implications on the prosecution of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, elder abuse, child abuse and child sexual assault cases. Hammon v. Indiana focuses on admitting victim comments into evidence when the victim is not actually in court to testify or be cross-examined. Stop Family Violence needs your stories for a legal brief that will help the Supreme Court understand why victims of violence may not want to testify against their abuser in criminal court.
Your story can help the court understand the needs and concerns of victims and the crucial role of evidence-based victimless prosecution. (you can tell your story anonymously)
Stop Family Violence will publish your story on our website and will submit it for inclusion in a legal brief that will be sent to the Supreme Court for consideration in the Hammon v. Indiana case. Stop Family Violence thanks the Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project, the National Network to End Domestic Violence and Legal Momentum for co-authoring the legal brief. We reserve the right to edit or remove comments from our website or the brief that will be submitted to the Supreme Court.
