Bubble Boy by Mike Luckovich

I watched The Ellen DeGeneres show today...
I watched The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and she did something she doesn't usually do. She spoke of the murder of a young teenage boy named Larry King by another boy named Brandon McInerney. All because Larry had sent Brandon a Valentine.
Watch the video below and then read the rest of what I have to say below....
Choking back tears, she added, "Larry is not a second-class citizen. I am not a second-class citizen. It is okay if you are gay."
***Thank you, Ellen! You brought me to tears as you spoke about Larry King and the hate for gays that still pervades our society. I live in Massachusetts where gay marriage is legal. I am gay and married to my fabulous wife Kathy, since October 16th, 2006. We have a 15 y/o son that attends one of the local high schools in our hometown and is taunted by children because he happily tells people he has 2 Moms. He has lost friends due to their parents finding out we are gay and married. This school year it even became a "political issue" because one of my son's friends mother told the vice principal that we were gay and then made up a story that my son elbowed her son! We tried to work things out with the parents but when we called the kids mom yelled and screamed that she was going to file charges against my son! The school tried to intervene but encountered the same kind of irrational behavior from the mother that we did. The worst thing about all this is my kid and her kid were friends...they hung out together at school...his teachers told my wife and I what good friends the 2 were. That was until the mother actually took her son out of school and started home schooling him! The worst part about this whole thing is that 2 good friends can no longer continue their friendship because of a parents hate for something she doesn't understand.
Peace,
soul

Hutto: Prototype for a nationwide concentration camp system?
Did you know that the federal government has not only set up but is also currently operating a prison that holds entire families - including infants, children and nursing and pregnant women?
It's located in Taylor, Texas and it's operated by Corrections Corporation of America, a privately owned corporation.
This short film by Matt Gossage and Lily Keber is one of the only public reports on this prison. Otherwise this subject has been entirely censored by the US news media.

Also, please write a letter to Congress in support of real diplomatic engagement with Iran.
Thanks for taking an active interest in reforming U.S. foreign policy!

today's quote...
"In the United States, it is now possible for a person eighteen years of age, female as well as male, to graduate from high school, college, or university without ever having cared for, or even held, a baby; without ever having comforted or assisted another human being who really needed help.... No society can long sustain itself unless its members have learned the sensitivities, motivations, and skills involved in assisting and caring for other human beings."

Greenpeace activists rock! I believe they attract alot of attention by using a kind of 'guerrilla activism', for lack of a better word, that a lot of people don't understand. They often use whatever tactics they can to stop Japanese whaling. In this paragraph from a Greenpeace action on trying to block refueling of a Japanese whaling fleet's factory ship;
"As the documentation was in progress, two of the whaling fleet's hunter vessels spent more than an hour performing close-quarter maneuvers around the small Greenpeace inflatables, to harass the activists, and push them away from the Nisshin Maru and Oriental Bluebird."

Obama SINGS the National Anthem... Others Do Not
Some people are saying Obama is unpatriotic because he didnt cover his heart during the pledge. Well, it WASNT the pledge, it was the national anthem and modern custom does not require a hand over the heart. But if you watch closely: He is the ONLY one singing! Clinton clearly is not, Richardson might be. So, who is the unpatriotic one?

Who stands up for real American values?
Spoken before the US invaded Iraq
"We can call ouselves Americans. We can fly the American flag, but unless we stand up and defend the values that define us as Americans, we will cease being Americans."
Scott Ritter gave this talk before the US invaded Iraq. As a former US Marine Corps officer, UN weapons inspector and expert on the armaments of Iraq, he very publicly disputed the Bush adminstration's claim that Iraq was a threat to the US.
Now the US is on the same path with regards to war against Iran.
Learn what you can do to help stop another illegal, immoral,and reckless use of US power in the world. Get and Scott's book "Waging Peace."

Bush and Cheney Should Be Arrested: Vermont Rising Up
An email from Impeach Bush;
Impeachment call spreads to local and state legislatures
Vermont to vote on arresting Bush and Cheney"Bush and Cheney: arrested for gross violations of international and U.S. law!" A new proposal in the township of Brattleboro, Vermont -- authorizing local law enforcement to arrest Bush and Cheney -- would make this headline a reality, should either of them step inside the town's jurisdiction. The Brattleboro proposal is to be voted on in the coming weeks at a town hall meeting. The proposal is up for discussion thanks to the hard work of community activists, who petitioned citywide to have the motion put to a vote. Fearful of the indictment, Bush and Cheney are mounting a counteroffensive. But in town after town in Vermont, the people have voted to support impeachment recognizing that Bush and Cheney have committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
The Brattleboro indictment of Bush and Cheney is reflective of the tide of opposition to the current administration. The people of this country are refusing to let Bush leave office without facing charges for his criminal deeds. Just yesterday, the New Hampshire State House held an impeachment hearing, which was flooded by activists and community members insisting that the state legislature take action. Hollywood actor Ed Asner wrote a letter for the hearing expressing his support for the resolution, which indicts Bush for "invading Iraq without just cause or provocation."
We are keeping the pressure on and "impeachment" has become a household word. We are mobilizing the impeachment movement for the anti-war actions on the 5th anniversary of the war. We are lobbying Congress. We are taking out impeachment advertisements. We are telling the courageous people of Brattleboro that they speak for millions more. We are telling the New Hampshire activists who filled the State House yesterday that people from the other 49 states stand with them.
We can seize upon this historic momentum only with your help. Please take a momentum to click on this link and make a donation for impeachment.
