::uncomfortably numb::
Anouilh, Jean
Poor little men, poor little cocks! As soon as they're old enough, they swell their plumage to be conquerors. If they only knew that it's enough to be just a little bit wounded and sad in order to obtain everything without fighting for it."
Memories Shouldn't Be...

Memory
Shouldn't be
Shards of a broken dream
Secret pain
Shouldn't strain
Breathlessly to scream
I know the where
I know the when
I know the who too well
Believe me or believe me not
I have a truth to tell
But Mother, if you cannot hear
I'll keep your peace
A day, a year.
Forever
If you doubt and fear
Convinces me to silence
Your Honor, if the proof you seek
Is rusted, lost
Too old, too weak, forgotten
Then I shall not speak
Dismiss my plea with silence
It matters not who hears the voice
Once I have understood
The thunder of the truth untold
Will echo in the wood
And judges naked in their robes
Will shudder at the gate
How thin the cloth of innocence
Against the chill of hate
Memory
Shouldn't be
Shards of a broken dream
Secret pain
Shouldn't strain
Breathlessly to scream
I know the where
I know the when
I know the who too well
Believe me or believe me not
I have a truth to tell

don't be afraid
nothing much
i was just thinking...
don't be afraid
i'm sorry my child,
everyday has become
a struggle to survive...
for, i never wanted you to be afraid.
i never wanted to see you suffer
or see you feel any pain.
at least, that's what they tell me,
in order to stay sane.
so much you must deal with
almost all alone.
i pray that i have taught you well,
and that you know you are loved.
i hope you know
i will always be there
my thoughts,
my words,
our memories,
all given in preparation
for this life.
don't be afraid my child,
don't be afraid my son,
when you are all alone.
don't be afraid when things
are really hard.
just remember this my child,
all that i have given to you,
is only your's to keep.
don't be afraid
of love
of kindness
of wisdom
for they seem to prove to all,
that we're not alone.
when you are afraid,
remember what i said.
remember who you are.
you are everything,
you are wonderful,
you are brillant,
you are beautiful
and most importantly,
you are my shooting star.
the most
wonderful
being
ever born.
did i?
did i ever make you happy?
did i ever make you feel good?
did i ever make you look good, even when i failed?
did you know i had feelings?
did you know i cared?
did you know that i had a life?
did you know i tried?
did you know i dared?
did i ever tell you about the day my son was born?
did i tell you about the time when i was a star?
did i tell you about all the times i helped someone i loved?
did i tell you that he's not dead?
did i tell you that i am?
did i ever make you cry?
did i?
did i ever remind you how much i love you?
did i ever say i'm sorry, for all the tears we've shed?
did i ever tell my son how good life can be?
did i ever tell you that i'm grateful for what i did recieve?
i tried to be good, did you?
i tried to help people, did you?
i tried to help to better a life, did you?
i tried to be real, did you?
i tried to heal, did you?
did you know i tried?
did you try too?
did you remember that i loved you?
did i ever remember to let you know just how much you meant to me?
did i?

BBC NEWS | World | South Asia | Eyewitness: Kashmir devastation
In the aftermath of the South Asian earthquake, the BBC News website has been speaking to people in parts of Pakistani-controlled Kashmir about the devastation in the region.
Muhammad Furqan
Muhammad Furqan witnessed scenes of devastation as minarets collapsed
Muhammad Furqan Riaz lives in Mirpur and he describes the panic that gripped his city.
People poured onto the streets in fear of further shocks. People sat and prayed.
But not everybody escaped successfully.
I heard that four teenage students at a religious school were killed when the minaret of the mosque fell on them while they were escaping. Other children were killed in this way.
I visited these collapsed mosques and I believe this is true horror."
